Almost 200 years ago, one of the most famous holiday poems ‘A Visit from St. Nicholas’ was created by Edmund Clarence Stedman. Over time this poem has fondly become known as ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’.
In the earliest known printing of ‘A Visit from St. Nicholas’ on December 23, 1823 in Troy Sentinel newspaper (a small-town newspaper in upstate New York), the name given to Santa's seventh reindeer was, "Dunder”.
Over the years, thanks to movies, songs and pop culture, you’ve probably heard her called Donner, or even Donder.
But in the spirit of Australian Christmas, we thought it was time you heard the story of Dunder.
Meet Dunder, the forgotten hero of Christmas down under.
