Without question, my all-time favourite avocado recipe is the truly divine 3 ingredient chocolate truffles. They are so simple to make and always a crowd pleaser.
I love seasonal produce and I love avocado, so this time of the year is a win-win for me!
There are countless ways in which to enjoy avocado and many have been tested and approved by those who previously considered themselves adverse to the creamy deliciousness that is unique to avocados.
I'm perfectly happy to simply slice them in half, remove the seed, sprinkle with salt, drizzle with lemon and tuck in. But I also love to dress them up.
Avocados can be added to everything from desserts to dinners. They are a perfect ‘secret ingredient’, often taking the ordinary to the extraordinary without anyone even knowing they are hiding in there.

Written by Bianca Slade - Wholefood Simply: Bianca is not entirely sure how Wholefood Simply came to be. Perhaps it all started many years ago when her journey into clean eating began. Perhaps it was much later than that, when she had a baby of her own and noticed how many children were eating processed and packaged foods. Or maybe it was not so long ago, when she mentioned to those around her that she wanted to show people there was another way.
She suspects there were many roads that led her here. Today, her aim is to make things a little easier for those embarking on the real foods path. She strives to help families who live with intolerances and allergies. She wants to put fun and simplicity into what can sometimes be a daunting and dull experience. Ultimately, her goal is to create food that is enjoyed by all.
10-12 balls depending on size
- Flesh of one ripe avocado
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 200 grams dark chocolate, roughly broken and divided - place 100 grams in each bowl
Mash the avocado in a bowl until it is smooth. Mix in the honey.
Gently melt 100 grams of the chocolate. Add the avocado mixture to the melted chocolate and mix until well combined.
Pour the chocolate and avocado mixture into a silicon loaf tin and place in the fridge for 2 - 3 hours.
Remove the mixture from the fridge and use your hands to roll spoonful’s of the mixture into balls. The mixture will make 10 - 12 balls depending on size. Place the balls into a container lined with baking paper and into the freezer for 30 minutes.
Gently melt the remaining chocolate a few minutes before removing the balls from the freezer.
Remove the balls from the freezer and use a small spoon to dip them into the melted chocolate. Once you have covered a ball with chocolate return it to the lined container. Once all balls are covered place them into the fridge to set.
