Stockland B by Halcyon, a land lease community designed for over 50s located on the Sunshine Coast, has been awarded Excellence in Seniors’ Living at the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) National Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner in Melbourne last night.

The annual UDIA Awards honour the highest achievers across all sectors of the development industry and this national recognition follows B by Halcyon winning Excellence in Seniors’ Living at the UDIA Queensland Awards in November.

Stockland Halcyon Regional Project Director, Chris Carley, said it was an honour for Stockland to take home the prestigious award for B by Halcyon which, since its launch in February 2020, has received significant market interest and is currently 95 per cent sold, with just 15 sites remaining. “This UDIA award for B by Halcyon recognises Stockland’s approach to deliver innovative housing for those over 50, with a major focus on sustainable design and active community living. We like to say there is no better place to ‘B’ and our customers tell us that every day,” Mr Carley said.

“Homeowners have access to six hectares of private open space and recreational areas, including a club, bar, indoor and outdoor pool. Earlier this year B by Halcyon homeowners also celebrated the opening of the Sports Pavilion providing access to tennis and pickleball courts, a lounge with a fireplace, barbecue kitchen and pizza oven, as well as the new Central Park with walking tracks, a lakeside pontoon, an off-leash dog area and an open space amphitheatre.

“B by Halcyon is a tranquil community spanning 25 hectares surrounded by nature. Through Stockland’s landscaping design and a series of connected water bodies, the former cane farm has turned into a thriving and connected ecosystem that reflects our commitment to enhancing nature and complements the essence of Buderim in the community.

“Sustainability is a core value at B by Halcyon. Homeowners have access to a Tesla community use vehicle, and electric vehicle charging stations. Each home comes equipped with solar panels as standard which can help homeowners save money on their energy bills.  The community facilities at B also have their own solar panels and Tesla Powerwall batteries to help leave a lighter footprint on the earth.

“Stockland’s transparent ownership model also means there are no deferred management payments and homeowners retain all capital gains,” Mr Carley added.

Entrants in the Seniors’ Living category were judged on several factors including environmental consideration, design innovation, sales results, commitment to the broader community, as well as meeting the specific needs of retirement-age homeowners.

Winners of the UDIA National Awards were drawn from the outstanding winners of the state awards in sixteen categories.

This announcement adds to the 33 industry awards Stockland Halcyon communities have won over the years.
