How to make your own stickers

Category: kids

These school holidays, get crafty with the kids by teaching them how to make their own stickers! This craft activity is super easy and works great if you’ve got any kids birthday parties coming up as you can use the kids’ stickers to decorate wrapping paper, add a bit of personality to the birthday card, and even add them to the present itself!

You can get everything you need at your local Stockland centre and when the school holidays end, you’ll even be able to reuse your leftover supplies (and stickers!) to decorate their new schoolbooks! So, follow our step-by-step guide and show the kids how they can create their own unique set of stickers at home.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Paper
  • Scissors
  • Clear contact paper
  • Coloured pencils
  • Black marker

Step 1

Decide on your sticker designs. You can find some images online and print them out or draw your own using the black marker.

Step 2

Colour in your sticker designs using the coloured pencils and cut out your sticker designs leaving about two millimetres of room around the edge.

Step 3

Peel the back of the contact paper away and place your sticker designs face down onto the sticky side of the clear contact. Make sure your designs aren’t too close together!

Place the back of the contact paper over the sticker designs, and clear contact, and press down firmly. Flip the contact paper over to see your designs appearing beneath the clear contact.

Step 4

Cut out your stickers, leaving roughly three centimetres of space around each design to ensure the front and back of the contact paper stay together.

Step 5

Peel off the back of your stickers and place them on whatever you like!

Who knew creating your own stickers was so easy?! The best thing about crafting your own stickers is that they can be designed however you like. So, whether your kids are into pirates, fairies, animals or ice cream, they’ll be able to make their own stickers that reflect their specific interests as well as some stickers for their friends!
