Now it’s up to you to imagine what your new lifestyle will look like, from drinks with friends in your stunning, coastal-inspired interior, to lazy days in a beautifully decorated, outdoor entertaining area.

Moving into a waterside townhome at Delta Hope Island is the perfect chance to create your dream lifestyle with a relaxed, sophisticated look.
We’ve done most of the hard work for you, with architecturally designed, contemporary homes that face north to maximise light and coastal breezes.
Open plan design blurs the line between indoor and outdoor – so you can enjoy the tropical Gold Coast weather year-round – while every detail, including ILVE appliances, stone splashbacks, brushed nickel tapware and Italian tiles, has been thought of. Now it’s up to you to imagine what your new lifestyle will look like, from drinks with friends in your stunning, coastal-inspired interior, to lazy days in a beautifully decorated, outdoor entertaining area.
Because we know downsizing from a family home can seem a little daunting, we’ve put together some design advice to help you make an easy move into a life you’ll love.

Diving into a new look

Neutral walls, floors and finishings in your Delta Hope Island home make interiors seem lighter and brighter and create the perfect backdrop for treasured pieces, such as art, accessories or collectables.
Colour schemes range from the fresh, crisp whites of Coastal to the cool whites and stark black of a kitchen island bench of Modern and warm neutrals of Sanctuary, all of which allow you to add your own unique touch with splashes of colour and accents of texture. Why not inject an aqua or inky blue, in a striped or checked furniture fabric, or a decorative object, into the coastal look for an elegant nod to a nautical theme, or use timber settings in raw, earthy tones to complements a sanctuary feel.
In modern settings, a bold artwork may be exactly what’s needed to complete a stylish, open plan living area.
For every waterside, townhouse look, natural fabrics and materials, including bamboo, cotton, wicker, rattan, wool and wood, are excellent choices.

How to furnish an open plan townhome

To imagine the finished look of your new, dream home, pore over thepremium colour schemes, fixtures, fittings and finishes, then take an inventory of the furniture and accessories you have.
You could consider repainting or recovering some favourite pieces. Otherwise, now may be the time to sell some items and order something new, ready for your exciting move.
Lighter wood pieces with sleeker lines, typically seen in Hamptons-style furniture, work harder to enhance a waterside vibe than bulkier pieces in dark wood, while lower-lying furniture will make spaces appear larger by freeing up stunning, seascape views. Antique pieces mix with any style and a find such as a vintage bar cart, Grecian vase, or Barcelona chair will always add visual interest.
A must-have: bar stools to complement your Delta Hope Island kitchen and breakfast bar. These could be rattan, leather and metal, or timber, but check for height and comfort, including whether you want a backless stool or a padded seat.
When considering major items, think outside the box. For example, might a living room of stylish armchairs create a more relaxed and luxurious feel for you and your guests than one large sofa and, in your outdoor space, could a super comfortable sun lounge be used for mid-afternoon naps?
If you’re investing in a rug, natural fibre like sisal, jute or sea grass, is popular in coastal homes, while Beni Ourain rugs are on-trend and versatile.

Bringing Nature in

Delta Hope Island homes are designed to be connected to Nature with lush, sub-tropical surrounds as well as marine landscapes. At the same time, the trend towards indoor botanicals has never been stronger.
Stunning, low-care coastal choices include Kentia Palms, Fiddle Leaf Figs, Magnolia Little Gems and Devil’s Ivy.
Use larger ceramic pots in similar colours and shapes for living room plants and, ideally, place in groups of three.
Ivy can be hung from cane baskets to trail elegantly over a bookcase or down a bathroom wall.

Creating an outdoor entertaining or relaxation area

A large, outdoor entertaining area is as much a part of every Delta Hope Island home as stand-up paddling on the Coomera River, tennis at the Hope Island Tennis Academy and world-class golf at one of three 18-hole courses.
With sunny weather and pristine water views a given, treat this space as a second living-room – except, perhaps, one with a Weber barbecue or a stripey, tropical umbrella.
Scatter cushions or potted plants – succulents and Bangalow or Chinese Fan Palms are hardiest – can be used to add colour to neutral furniture choices. Or, be daring, and choose a vibrant, Nature-themed sofa or chair in greens as well as primary colours, and creams.
As the lines between indoor and outdoor living continue to blur, extending your decorating theme to your terrace will create seamless, luxury living.

A countdown to moving in

1. Start collecting photos of furniture, accessories or rooms you like and creating a mood board. More inspo on Curated Interior or on Pinterest.
2. Do an inventory of your own furniture and decide what you would like to keep, sell, or giveaway.
3. Organise for any favourite pieces to be repainted or recovered.
4. Draw up a simple floor plan where you can move around cut-out pieces to see what furniture combinations might work.
5. Once you have real photos and samples of the pieces you want to buy, as well as smartphone photos of existing pieces, create a sample board and see how everything will go together.
6. Order any new furniture you need as waiting times, especially for custom pieces, can be long.
7. Consider what type of art will add the right feel to your dream home and go shopping for some, or make a wish list. Keen photographers may like to have one of their own seascapes, for example, put on a canvas. Special collections or mementos that reflect travel, the sea and distant shores, beautifully displayed, can also help create that luxury escape feel.
8. Comb recycled and antique furniture shops for finds that will add interest. This may vary from a vintage bar cart or a set of wicker baskets to an antique lantern.
9. Book a mover, start packing boxes – remember to number each one and keep a master list of contents – and get ready to go.
10. Champagne time at your new Delta Hope Island home, a place where Nature’s beauty and modern living find the perfect balance.
