North Lakes residents taking advantage of free fitness classes in the community are celebrating after achieving an incredible total group weight loss of over 300kg.

The latest figures from the Live Life Get Active program show that the total weight loss of attendees who are monitoring their weight surpassed the 300kg barrier for the first time - the equivalent of losing three Corey Parkers, five Rhiannas or two giant male pandas.

The Live Life Get Active program is sponsored by Stockland and aims to get local residents fitter, happier and healthier by running free fitness classes five days a week at Aurora Boulevard Park.

David Laner, Regional Manager for Stockland, congratulated the efforts of the participants and said it was wonderful they were enjoying success.

“I commend the residents on their earnest efforts to lead a healthier lifestyle,’’ Mr Laner said.

“Stockland focuses strongly on creating communities that promote an active and healthy lifestyle for our residents so Live Life Get Active is a great fit for us.”

Launched in North Lakes in May 2015, the Live Life Get Active program now has 536 local members who attend free classes in cross training, boxing and yoga.

The brainchild of former Olympian Jayne Flemming, Live Life Get Active also provides education on health, fitness and nutrition and encourages participants to track their progress online and monitor weight loss and fitness levels.

Classes run during term time, Monday to Friday at 9.45am at Aurora Boulevard Park, on the corner of Aurora Boulevard and Expedition Drive.

Residents wanting to take part in Live Life Get Active sessions will need to first register online. Sessions can then be booked up to one week in advance.
