State government funding has been allocated for the construction and development of Mernda Station.

Future Mernda Train Station

The 2016/2017 state government budget includes funding for the South Morang track to be extended 8km, with a station near Marymede Catholic College, and at Mernda.

The project is currently in the planning phase. It is being delivered by the Level Crossing Removal Authority, and expected to commence construction early 2017.

The new line will be complete and operational in 2019. Travel time to Melbourne CBD is estimated to be approximately one hour.

Facilities at Mernda Train Station will include parking, safe walking and cycling paths and bike storage. The proposed station will connect with buses, creating new public transport links. The station will be integrated into the proposed Mernda Town Centre, making the station a hub of services and connections.

The train station was designed after consultations with the community in 2015 and 2016.

Mernda Station will be just over a kilometre from Mernda Villages Sales Office*.
