New home builders can feel hesitant to start the process when it comes to choosing the right option, whether its building new, or purchasing an off-the-plan build.

Stockland's WA General Manager, Col Dutton, says; "It's common for people to struggle with the first steps in finding a new home and to feel overwhelmed with all the decisions. Research is especially key now with the availability of the government grants."

There are 4 key factors to consider:

  • Utilising Government Grants

You may not be aware that you could be eligible for one, or all, of the government grants currently available. "Do your research, know the deadlines and understand the personal eligibility requirements for the various builder bonus grants. At present there's up to $55,000^ across three government grants available on property options at Canopy."

  • Choosing your location

Mr Dutton said finding a location that will meet your future needs is crucial.

"Plan for your future by thoroughly researching any communities you're considering. Think about what you'll want close at hand to meet your wants and needs; parks, schools, transport links, shops, cafes, community gardens and strong community links to friends and family," explained Mr Dutton.

"People want the benefit of walkability and connectivity within their local communities, with a home that offers the necessary space for functionality."

  • The right home design

Mr Dutton expressed that choosing the right home design should be one of the most enjoyable parts of the whole process. There's no need to feel overwhelmed at all the different selections on offer.

"Let the professionals take care of the design elements for you, choose from our popular green title terrace homes, and select from a range of floorplans and a choice of four design styles, carefully curated by interior design experts." My Dutton said.

  • Finding the right builder

Choosing the right builder takes time and research.

"You should be able to fully trust and rely on your builder during the purchase and build process," expressed Mr Dutton.
