Child’s play is taking on a whole new meaning in Western Australia as the next generation of innovative playground concepts win the hearts of children and adults alike.

Perth’s latest parks and play spaces are being specifically designed to encourage children to get outdoors and active, and away from computer screens, with designers focussed on providing challenging play equipment for all ages and abilities.

Shipwreck, jungle, robotic and old world themes are among the exciting features being delivered at parks within Stockland’s new Perth communities – Vale at Aveley, Whiteman Edge at Brabham, Amberton at Eglinton, Sienna Wood in Hilbert, Newhaven at Piara Waters and Calleya at Treeby.

Col Dutton, General Manager for Stockland WA, said parks played a crucial role in creating highly liveable masterplanned communities and was an important factor for families when deciding where to build their dream home.

“These outstanding parks showcase the high level of quality that Stockland develops at its communities. Our parks and play spaces are an integral part of our communities and they provide an opportunity for residents to interact with one another and enjoy a healthy and active outdoor lifestyle.”

In the last two years alone, Stockland has invested $29 million in creating 13 parks on 25 hectares of open space at its WA communities, the first of which was the state’s first inclusive Livvi’s Place playground at Whiteman Edge.

Sienna Wood’s upcoming Shipwreck Park is centred around a 30-metre ship wreck structure. The park spans 6.6 hectares and is the largest in any WA Stockland community. Alongside the feature park itself are kick about ovals, BBQ facilities and a newly opened dog park catering for all members of the growing community.

Perth’s most popular new parks include:

 •       The adventure playground at Vale, Aveley offering hidden dinosaur fossils and musical instruments.

•        Calleya’s newest outdoor open space featuring a three-level, eight-metre high play tower with a viewing platform and tubed slide.

•        The first stage of Amberton’s multi-million dollar sporting fields, which includes an AFL sized oval, playground with a scooter track, barbecue and seating facilities.

•       The Jungle Park at Whiteman Edge, Brabham featuring birds nest climbing tower and slide.

•       A robot park at Newhaven with a robot-themed cubby house, flying fox, basketball half-court, climbing structures and tunnel slides.
