Back to school tips for parents

The back-to-school hustle has well and truly hit! It’s no secret that this annual initiation is just as much about parental preparedness as it is about kids’ educational success. And although it marks a bittersweet time of year (saying goodbye to summer relaxing and hello to child-free days) it also requires a little bit of organisation on your part – by organisation we mean a trip to Stockland Forster for all the bits and bobs that will have your kid feeling too cool for school. With this guide, you can stay on track and still have ample time for family fun before the first day of school begins.

Lunchbox recipes

Lunch rut got you down? We know there’s nothing worse than packing your child’s lunch only to have them return it half-eaten eight hours later. Fret not, this year we know exactly how to avoid the dreaded half-full lunch box – a.k.a how to keep you in the lunching game! Step it up a notch with these fun tips…

Firstly, pretty food means full tummies and likewise, pretty packaging means full tummies! It’s all about the presentation – from the lunchbox itself to the colour of the food. Why not hit the shops with your kid and let them choose their new lunch containers and water bottles – we suggest checking out Kmart and The Reject Shop

Secondly, grab some cute sticky notes from Kmart so that you can write daily happy notes and pop them into their lunchbox. This technique will not only provide encouragement for your child, but it will also help them feel like their lunch is a little bit more special.

Lastly, always ensure your pantry is stocked up with different snacks! When you’re on your weekly grocery shop at Woolworths or Coles, don’t be afraid to try out new snacks and always replenish your fave. If you’re in need of some more lunchbox inspiration, then check out these 12 kid-friendly and out-of-the-box recipes right here

Simply follow these tips and we’re sure their box will come back empty every single day!

Stationery and books

Nothing is more satisfying than fresh stationery and being able to write that first word in a brand-new notebook. Give your child the gift of new stationery to get them excited for their new grade.

Head to Kmart with a basket in hand for all your stationery needs and then check out their array of educational books!

Tip: make their studying glow with colourful or scented highlighters, it will allow them to make a connection visually and be more likely to remember the content!

Clothing

These days, kids want to be anything but basic, so naturally adding personalised touches to their uniform can make all the difference! And we know just how to do so without breaking any uniform rules. We’re talking about shoes, of course! Next time you’re in the centre with your kid, be sure to check out The Athlete's Foot or Sportsfirst Forster to pick up a pair of durable yet trendy sneakers.

Tip: adding fun keyrings to their school bag is also a great way to let their individuality shine through!

Welcome back to school, parents! While it’s not quite time to get the cameras ready for the first day of school just yet, it certainly is time to consider this the ultimate guide to help the process be as streamlined as possible. See you soon at Stockland Forster!
