Celebrating International Women’s Day with Charlotte from Evolution Laser Clinic
International Women’s Day is a very special day of the year. It’s a day where we get to celebrate all the incredible women in our lives and acknowledge the hard work, they put into the things they’re passionate about each day. Whether they’re creative chefs serving up delicious dishes for the local community, fashion designers creating gorgeous gowns, or simply hard-working mums who are dedicated to teaching their children how to navigate the world, we’re constantly inspired by the women around us and how their diverse range of skills help to make the world a better place.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re taking the theme ‘inspired inclusion’ out into our local centres and showcasing some of our incredible retailers, staff, and community members who are paving the way for a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive world.
Today, we’re chatting with Charlotte from Evolution Laser Clinic at Stockland Piccadilly.
What inspired you to want to open your business?
I have been with Evolution Laser Clinic since 2004, that will be 20 years ago. I decided to open my first clinic in 2008. It all started with the passion, motivation and drive for laser and skin industry. The laser hair industry was all new back then, there weren’t many clinics around like today. I was excited to see how our client’s significant results, changed their lives and brought their confidence back. It's so rewarding!
What’s the most rewarding part about running your own business here at Stockland Piccadilly?
When I mention to people that my clinic is in Stockland Piccadilly, they immediately know exactly where I’m talking about. That shows me how renowned the centre is in the CBD and that is most rewarding. Also, I’d like to mention the continuous support I have received from the Centre Management team. It really makes a difference when you know you are supported and backed up by a wonderful team.
What does the phrase “inspired inclusion” mean to you?
The beauty and laser industry focuses mainly on women. These women are young, innovative and want to grow, be involved and valued in the workplace. "Inspired Inclusion" is making others understand the value of women’s inclusion, and when women are included, they become inspired and empowered.
Who are some other women in your community that inspire you?
My mother is my inspiration. She is confident, graceful and positive in everything she does in life. A dedicated wife and mother to her children, grandchildren and the backbone of our family. She has taught me to be a better person, a mother and a businesswoman, with continuous faith, to never stop growing and to forgive others as well as myself. This has made me a stronger and a wiser person in my personal and business life. Her unconditional love abled me to achieve so much and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without her.
Professionally, Wendy El-Khoury from Wedded Wonderland, is a friend and a mother of 5. She is a visionary entrepreneur, philanthropist, and educator with a global footprint, celebrated for her exceptional leadership in the wedding and lifestyle industries.
What advice would you give to other women who may be looking to open their own business?
The advice I would give for other women who are wanting to open their own business is to have patience, dedication and acceptance of growth of yourself and others. You may fail or others may fail you but be dedicated to never give up.
