Earth Hour 2017

STOCKLAND BALDIVIS SUPPORTS EARTH HOUR’S 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY 2017

Stockland Baldivis will support Earth Hour’s 10 year anniversary on Saturday 25th March 2017, by turning off all non-essential lighting and pylon signage and encouraging its retailers to turn off their lights and appliances for one hour.

This year will celebrate 10 years of progress on climate change and taking action for our future generation. It marks the tenth Earth Hour event globally run by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to combat the issue of climate change - one of the biggest environmental challenges on the planet today.

Earth Hour aims to inspire and empower individuals, businesses and governments around the world to push climate change to the top of the agenda. From promoting renewable energy and sustainable agriculture to funding projects to protecting forests and ecosystems and encouraging climate education.

Stockland Centre Manager Kathleen Brown, said: “Earth Hour is an opportunity to raise awareness about the need to not only reduce energy consumption, but to be mindful of and reduce the overall impact we have on our environment. Stockland has an ongoing commitment to sustainability and has introduced various initiatives to enable environmental efficiencies in all of its Commercial Property assets.

For Stockland, Earth Hour represents the symbolic start date for renewed efforts to minimise energy consumption and create more sustainable retail environments.

Stockland is proud to be recognised as the most sustainable property company in the world by the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), demonstrating world leadership across the areas of stakeholder engagement, customer relationship management, supply chain management, biodiversity and climate change strategy.
