Celebrating International Women’s Day with our local community

International Women’s Day is a very special day of the year. It’s a day where we get to celebrate all the incredible women in our lives and acknowledge the hard work, they put into the things they’re passionate about each day. Whether they’re creative chefs serving up delicious dishes for the local community, fashion designers creating gorgeous gowns, or simply hard-working mums who are dedicated to teaching their children how to navigate the world, we’re constantly inspired by the women around us and how their diverse range of skills help to make the world a better place. To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re taking the theme ‘inspired inclusion’ out into our local centres and showcasing some of our incredible retailers, staff, and community members who are paving the way for a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive world.

Naomie from Blooms the Chemist

What inspired you to want to work at Blooms the Chemist?
I love interacting with people and providing a service to support and help others. What inspires you the most about working in the pharmaceutical industry overall? Helping others and I get to meet so many different people everyday!
What does the phrase “inspired inclusion” mean to you?
To me, it means to be the best version you can be. To see the best in others and to help bring out the best in others.
Who are some other women in your community that inspire you?
My manager Jeanette. She is very grounded, fair, and fun. Mostly the staff here as well. We all get along well, have fun and are there for each other when times are tough. To discover the true authentic beauty of the feminine, to move beyond limited human vison and finding joy in ordinary things.
What’s a fond memory you have of working at Blooms The Chemist?
It’s hard to choose just one. We have a great team and have lots of laugh together and support each other. We also get a lot of treats and snacks too!

What inspired you to want to work at Little Beach Road?
I love all the beautiful giftware and products we carry. I also really enjoy the customer service and helping mamas.

What inspires you the most about working in the retail industry overall?
I enjoy helping customers and building a relationship with them. I love chatting to customers, getting to know them and help them find the perfect gift.

What does the phrase “inspired inclusion” mean to you? 
To me, it means that all shapes, sizes, and ages are represented. Everyone is included and no one is left out. It is really important to feel a sense of belonging and I enjoy helping make each and every customer feel that when they enter our store.

Who are some other women in your community that inspire you?
My friends and other mothers inspire me. My strong mama bear friends, especially my best friend Krystal who inspires me after every conversation we have

What’s a fond memory you have of working at Little Beach Road?
I love when families come in with their children and I get to use the glitter girl products on them. Seeing the kids smile makes my day!

What inspired you to want to work at Michael Hill?
It’s a great company to work for, it’s a great team and I meet a lot of new people.

What inspires you the most about working in the jewellery industry overall?
I came from working in administration for 10 years, so it was a nice change! I get to meet new and interesting people every day and every day is different. I also really enjoy the social aspect of it.

What does the phrase “inspired inclusion” mean to you? 
To me it means to be included and involved. To feel like you’re a part of something.

Who are some other women in your community that inspire you?
All the girls I work with in my community. It’s like having another family, they know everything about me.

What’s a fond memory you have of working at Michael Hill?
I love all the proposals and love stories we hear. We get to meet so many people and help them pick out their wedding or engagement rings. We get to be a part of their love story for ever and that’s really special.
