Stockland supports Harmony Day

Stockland is proud to support this year’s national Harmony Day on Tuesday 21 March 2017. What is Harmony Day? Harmony Day is a day to celebrate cultural diversity and is held on the 21 March each year. The message of Harmony Day is everyone belongs. It’s about engaging people to participate in their community, respecting cultural and religious diversity and fostering a sense of belonging for everyone who calls Australia home. Since 1999, more than 65 000 events and activities have been held across the country, from the smallest childcare centres to the largest businesses. Harmony Day coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This year marks 50 years since the declaration of the Day. Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Day. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. Australians can choose to wear something orange on 21 March to show their support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia. Stockland teams with The Australian Museum

Stockland and the Australian Museum are teaming up to explore our customers' fascination with Dinosaurs. A life size Tyrannosaurus rex that weighs two tonne and is eleven-metres-long will call the Australian Museum home later this year. Generously donated to the Australian Museum (AM) by National Geographic, the model that was featured in their documentary T. rex Autopsy, vividly shows what made a T. rex tick, with an up close look at its vital organs – including a giant heart. Before it reaches its new home in Sydney, Stockland and the Australian Museum are giving our customers the opportunity to enter an amazing competition where we are calling upon you to name the life-size model of the female T. rex. The best entry will win an international family trip for four from Flight Centre. ENTER HERE. To celebrate this partnership, we will combine Dinosaur facts with fun as we aim to provide an educational insight into these amazing prehistoric creatures over the coming months. Plus, we will provide an opportunity for our customers to also win passes to see the T. rex at the Australian Museum in Sydney. Be sure to sign up to our newsletter to receive all this amazing Dinosaur information and other kids related content over the coming months.

Community Youth Art Mural

Our 'Community Youth Art Mural' is now complete! Make sure to check out our Community Youth Art Mural at the entry to our roof top cark park! Earlier in the year Stockland Baldivis held a Community Youth Art Competition inviting local High School and TAFE students in the Baldivis area to submit mural designs based on the theme "Baldivis Life", in which the winning entry would be incorporated into the final mural design to be completed by a professional artist. Students at Tranby College, Baldivis Secondary College and Living Waters Lutheran College all took part and submitted some fantastic designs. Our judging panel was so impressed, they couldn't decide on a winner! Instead, elements from all of the entries received were incorporated into the final design produced by artist Paul Deej. Mural artisit Paul Deej was highly involved in every stage of the project, having hosted artwork sessions with students at each of the schools. Students from the participating schools were also invited to visit Paul on site to observe and assist him in painting the mural.

Baldivis Community Books

Enjoy a special gift with purchase – receive your copy of our two Community books when you spend $100 at Coles, Kmart or Woolworths and $50 at any specialty store (you may use multiple receipts). What do you think of when you picture Baldivis? We asked our social media friends last year to show us Baldivis through their eyes. The community responded with images of vast white salt lakes, streetscapes and playgrounds; fog settling over veggie gardens, horse farms, pets and paddocks. And just beyond? Gorgeous beaches, wonderful sporting grounds and stunning Western Australian sunsets. And of course we had to ask the children. Not surprisingly their favourite places are our favourite places. Meet our Youth Ambassadors inside our book; and be introduced to Baldivis and beyond through their eyes.
