Behind each of your favourite stores are passionate, hardworking people who welcome you to take part in their story, every time you walk in. Today we say hello to our new restaurateurs Sylvia and York from Corner Asian Cuisine, who joined the Baringa Shopping Centre last month. Learn about the history of their business, the products and services they offer and what they love about their local community.

1. Please tell us about your experience in the restaurant / food business

Sylvia: For the last 10 years Sylvia has owned and managed Sydney restaurant Korean Samari.
York has worked at Mooloolaba’s Spice Bar for the previous 5 years and will bring traditional Asian dishes to Corner Asian Cuisine.

2. How did your passion for food begin?

From a young age I always dreamt of opening my own business, I started to cook at a young age and I really love to cook. It was my hobby when I was a teenager … and I worked in my Sydney restaurant ( Korean Samari) for 10 years, so I believe I have a good reputation and experience to bring to the Aura community.

3. What made you decide to join the Aura community and open a location at the Baringa Shopping Centre?

Sylvia moved from Sydney to Aura six months ago and noticed the limited dine-in/ takeaway food in the local area. As a resident she wanted to offer the local community high quality Asian food to the area for a reasonable price and decided to open Corner Asian Cuisine.
