Christmas is a magical and exciting time of year, however, Christmas can sometimes be overwhelming, particularly for people with hidden disabilities. This year, Stockland Wendouree is proud to partner with Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) to offer families a range of sensory-friendly activities, gifting options and tips to make their Centre experiences as convenient, calm and magical as possible.

Sensitive Santa

Stockland Wendouree will again be offering families bespoke sessions, outside of peak times, to have their Christmas photo captured in a relaxed environment, tailored to children with sensory differences. All Santa Photography sessions must be booked ahead of time, and spaces are limited so families are encouraged to book as soon as reasonably possible.

Sensory Map

To help families navigate busy centres, in partnership with Aspect Australia, we have mapped out potential sensory stressors such as noise, light, smell, and touch as well as crowding or busy areas of the centre. The map also indicates calmer quieter places if needed, and assists in preparing a person by increasing he predictability of a new environment. Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program

Stockland Wendouree is proud to offer the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program in-centre. The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is to support people with a hidden disability by making the invisible, visible by indicating a person may need additional support or a little more time. To learn more about the program, visit our news page here.

Accessible Amenities

We have three accessible restrooms within the centre; one in our Casual Dining Precinct and two are located in the main amenities corridor in the middle of the building. The restroom closest to the parents room is an Adult Change Space and features an adult sized change table and a full range ceiling hoist.

Quiet Room

We're proud to provide our shoppers with The Quiet Room - designed to create a safe place for parents, carers and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), providing a calm, low sensory environment, which can be used as a retreat away from the busy shopping centre.

The Quiet Room is located in the amenities corridor near the Centre Management Office.
