International Women's Day

Celebrating International Women’s Day with our local community

International Women’s Day is a very special day of the year. It’s a day where we get to celebrate all the incredible women in our lives and acknowledge the hard work, they put into the things they’re passionate about each day. Whether they’re creative chefs serving up delicious dishes for the local community, fashion designers creating gorgeous gowns, or simply hard-working mums who are dedicated to teaching their children how to navigate the world, we’re constantly inspired by the women around us and how their diverse range of skills help to make the world a better place. To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re taking the theme ‘inspired inclusion’ out into our local centres and showcasing some of our incredible retailers, staff, and community members who are paving the way for a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive world.

We want to thank these incredible women for sharing their stories!

Kylie from Cotton On

What inspired you to want to work at Cotton On?
I love the people aspect of the business – Cotton On puts its people first and everyone is treated as equals. Not to mention the amazing work they do with the foundation – they support holistic education, mental health and environment impacts that empower youth to thrive. There aren't enough brands doing what they do.

What inspires you the most about working in the fashion industry overall?
Definitely the happy customers when you have made them feel amazing in their new outfit!

What does the phrase “inspired inclusion” mean to you?
Inclusion to me is when everyone feels like they belong in a community, where people feel respected, loved and understood by others around them.

Who are some other women in your community that inspire you?
All the woman I surround myself with inspire me.

What’s a fond memory you have of working at Cotton On?
It's hard for me to pinpoint a favourite as there have been so many over the years! I would have to say that making lifelong friends and sharing too many laughs to count.

Natasha from Neverland

What inspired you to want to work at Neverland?
I absolutely adore streetwear fashion – it's trendy and invites a lot of different age types into the store.

What inspires you the most about working in the fashion industry overall?
I love making my customers leave the store smiling, feeling fresh and wanting to come back. I love talking to customers and helping style people of any age.

What does the phrase “inspired inclusion” mean to you?
When we inspire others to understand value of inclusion and creating a sense of belonging.

Who are some other women in your community that inspire you?
My amazing mother inspires me in so many ways – she’s amazing with everything she has going on in her life but stills empowers life as well as work. However I also think all women are an inspiration in their very own way. Women have to stick together to show younger women how you can be such a powerful independent leader.

What’s a fond memory you have of working at Neverland or Stockland?
A fond memory would be assisting security with the young youths. We’re a community-minded centre and the retailers know me as the women who stands her ground and will look out for everyone.

Dani from The Body Shop

What inspired you to want to work at The Body Shop?
I love how The Body Shop is an inclusive company – their ethical standard, all natural ingredients and they don’t test on animals. We exist to fight for a fairer and more beautiful world. Our team are a fun and joyful collective with a playful and curious spirit who operates with integrity, collaborate and put the needs of our people first.

What inspires you the most about working in the beauty industry overall?
I wanted to work within the beauty industry because I love helping people feel their best. I've helped people feel their most beautiful and confident on the days they may not have been feeling the best. I love the opportunity to be a support when they’re having a bad day or just needed that pick-me-up.

What does the phrase “inspired inclusion” mean to you?
When we inspire others to understand and value inclusion, we forge a better world and also encourage the next generation not just to follow but to overtake.

Who are some other women in your community that inspire you?
For me it’s every woman, young or old. Especially women in the more male dominate industries.

What’s a fond memory you have of working at The Body Shop?
Over the nine years I have been with The Body Shop, it is the friendships I have made with our customers that have given me the best memories. I have also loved seeing how our company has made a difference in the world.
