Celebrating International Women’s Day with Connie Anne 

International Women’s Day is a very special day of the year. It’s a day where we get to celebrate all the incredible women in our lives and acknowledge the hard work they put into the things they’re passionate about each day. Whether they’re creative chefs serving up delicious dishes for the local community, fashion designers creating gorgeous gowns, or simply hard-working mums who are dedicated to teaching their children how to navigate the world, we’re constantly inspired by the women around us and how their diverse range of skills help to make the world a better place.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re taking the theme ‘inspired inclusion’ out into our local centres and showcasing some of our incredible retailers, staff, and community members who are paving the way for a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive world.

Today, we’re chatting with Connie Anne from Connie Anne at Stockland Wetherill Park. 

What inspired you to want to open your business?
From a young age, I had a love for fashion and the creative arts world, constantly creating various artworks and designing fashion garments and accessories. Whilst completing a Bachelor Degree of Design in Fashion and Textiles, I was working at local fashion boutiques and completed internships at multiple Australian fashion labels. It was then, I discovered exactly where I belonged!

What’s the most rewarding part about running your own business here at Stockland Wetherill Park?
The most rewarding part would be offering consumers a collection of clothing and accessory labels that suit the local communities needs, leaving customers feeling completely comfortable and confident in their bodies! Connie Anne is well known for its personalised, one-on-one shopping experience and in-store styling sessions where customers are able to walk away satisfied with a complete outfit.

What does the phrase “inspired inclusion” mean to you?
To me, inspired inclusion means creating a safe space for all of my customers to visit, where they can feel comfortable to try on and buy what they like with confidence. Each person has their own uniqueness and raw beauty, and I strive to embrace this in each individual.

Who are some other women in your community that inspire you?
My number one inspiration from a business perspective would have to be my mentors, Marianne and Carmen Cuiuli (Cuiuli Design). Being in the fashion industry for over 40 years, they continue to support, motivate and encourage me to explore new options and push my business to new heights.
From a personal perspective, my mum and older sister most definitely inspire me every single day! I’ve watched them tackle everything they do with passion, dedication and motivation and this is something I truly look up to.

What advice would you give to other women who may be looking to open their own business?
Although it might be one of the biggest risks you’ll take, and one of the most demanding things you’ll do, it’s also the most rewarding! Keep your eye on the ball and you’ll be proud of what you can achieve.
