Gidget Foundation Australia® (GFA) is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to support the emotional wellbeing of expectant and new parents, and to raise awareness of perinatal depression and anxiety amongst expectant and new parents their families, their healthcare providers, and the wider community, to ensure those in need receive timely, appropriate and specialist care.
Gidget House® Burleigh Heads at Stockland Burleigh Heads Shopping Centre provides free specialist psychological treatment services for people throughout the perinatal period: from conception until the baby is 12 months old. Gidget House offers support to expectant and new parents experiencing, or at risk of developing, perinatal depression, anxiety or other related conditions.
The Gidget House and Start Talking programs provide 10 free individual psychological counselling sessions for expectant and new parents. A GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan are required to access the service. GP’s referring to the service are encouraged to use the online referral form located under the ‘Health Professionals’ menu on the GFA website or by clicking HERE.
