Q&A with Drule

Tell us about yourself and your style of street art?

I am a mural artist from Brisbane where I live with my family, my fiancé and our two sons. I started my own mural company about 10 years ago and have undertaken hundreds of murals across South East Queensland and Northern NSW. My style is a mix of realism and pop art with a graffiti element.

How did you get into it?

I grew up in the best graffiti years and was always attracted to its elements and wild styles, it is so unique and creative. I always had a natural flair for art and started off by practicing sketching in drawing pads and then moved to using aerosol.

What are your top three tips for someone wanting to explore street art?

1. Do what feels right
2. Don't give up
3. Push your limits

Where do you draw inspiration from?

I draw inspiration from what is see and enjoy in life. I love painting nature like birds and marine life and I've also painted murals of my family and my pets. I love bright colours too so I love painting designs that are just fun to look at.
