Comic art competition

We are calling for illustrations for our Comic/Manga Drawing Competition. Are you an avid drawer, someone who enjoys drawing or a comic book/manga fan? If you answered yes, then we would love you to enter our Comic Art Competition.

In partnership with CapriCon (Steampunk and Pop Culture Convention), we want Rockhampton’s amateur artists to submit drawings/artwork of an original comic book character or superhero. Simply complete the below form and upload your drawing by 11.59pm on Wednesday, 3 August or drop off your drawing to the Customer Care desk before 5.30pm on Wednesday, 3 August.

The top 10 entries per age category will go through to the next stage of the competition where the public will vote for the top 3 per age category. The winner from the top 3 entries per category, will be judged by Dean Rankine; Ledger & Stanley Award winning comic book artist.

Winners of each age category will win a $150 Stockland gift card, CapriCon merchandise pack valued at $25 PLUS, an exclusive meet & greet with Dean Rankine, at CapriCon*.

Competition age categories:
- Under 9 years
- 10 years – 15 years
- 16 years +


 




About Dean Rankine
Comic art comeptition
Dean Rankine is a Ledger and Stanley Award winning comic book artist and writer best known for his work on Simpsons Comics. His other credits include; Futurama, Rick and Morty, Invader Zim, Underdog, Hellboy, Oggy and the Cockroaches and The Riverdale Diaries : Starring Veronica. He's the illustrator on the Timmy the Ticked-Off Pony series - written by Magda Szubanski. And wrote and drew the forthcoming series; Death Metal Emo Elves. When he's not drawing Dean likes to play Dungeons and Dragons and watches cat videos.
