Cancer survival touches couple
While there are hundreds of worthy charities who all do good work, there was no doubt in the minds of Tony and Daphne McDade where their recent Friends of Halcyon Referral donation would go.
“Four years ago Daphne had a routine mammogram and there was something not right, “ Tony recalls.
“They did an ultrasound and found a cancerous lump in both breasts at the same time.”
Tony said that was on a Wednesday and by Friday Daphne was in hospital undergoing surgery to remove both lumps, which was followed by a month of intense daily radiation.
He said Daphne’s prognosis was good and she has been cancer free for the past four years.
“There was no doubt in our minds who we wanted to give our donation to, it was the Breast Cancer Foundation because it touched us and with the help of Halcyon we can hopefully make other people’s lives better,” he said.
