November 23, 2018

Halcyon has notched up a winning double after taking out two prestigious development and construction industry awards for its lifestyle communities on the same day.

Halcyon Lakeside at Bli Bli won Queensland’s Best Seniors Living at the 2018 UDIA Qld Awards for Excellence while Halcyon Glades at Caboolture north picked up the Queensland Housing Industry Association’s (HIA) accolade for Specialised Housing.

It is seventh time that a Halcyon community has earned a Seniors Living title from the peak development industry body; with Parks, Waters (three), Landing, and Vision by Halcyon all previous winners.

Not to be outdone, Halcyon Glades’ win came after Halcyon entered the HIA Queensland Housing Awards for the first time.

Both accolades honour Halcyon’s status as one of Australia’s most awarded lifestyle community developers and are a testament to the hard work and passion of our team.

Halcyon joint managing director Bevan Geissmann said these latest additions to the reflect the company’s unwavering commitment to excellence and its philosophy of striving to be better, and not necessarily bigger.

“We are delighted that our ongoing efforts to deliver the best possible lifestyle options for over 50s in Queensland have been recognised by industry bodies,” Dr Geissmann said.

“These awards support and strengthen our vision to continue striving for excellence.”

UDIA Queensland CEO Kirsty Chessher-Brown said the Awards for Excellence were judged by independent industry leaders who travelled the state to inspect every entry.

“It is a very rigorous process and a wonderful acknowledgement of the best of the best by industry peers,” Ms Chessher-Brown said.

The two wins now place Halcyon Lakeside and Halcyon Glades in the running for national awards.

Halcyon Lakeside project director Chris Carley said the Sunshine Coast had always been fertile ground for Halcyon in terms of market acceptance and industry recognition.

“In two years, we have managed to sell more than 200 homes at Halcyon Lakeside and to create a beautiful community that we are proud of,” Mr Carley said.

“That tells us we’re offering what the broader community needs and wants in a lifestyle community, which is extremely satisfying and encouraging.

“The fact that all three of our Sunshine Coast communities have now won UDIA awards just deepens our resolve to continue creating communities in this beautiful part of Australia.”

Offering 232 homes within a lush landscape, Halcyon Lakeside has a $6 million Lifestyle and Recreational Precinct and offers spectacular views across two lakes and towards iconic Mt Coolum.

Meanwhile, the Halcyon Glades team is celebrating winning the company’s first ever Queensland HIA award.

Dr Geissmann said the Specialised Housing gong recognises the company’s innovative Triple Guarantee of Livable Housing Design (LHD), superior energy rating and patented relocatability.

“Our Triple Guarantee is what sets us apart from others in the lifestyle community marketplace,” he said.

“It allows us to deliver homes that are cost saving, future proofed and have legal certainty for our home owners.”

Dr Geissmann said the adoption of LHD into the Triple Guarantee creates a home that is easier to access, navigate and live in, as well as more cost effective to adapt to a home owner’s changing needs.

“Our home owners appreciate the simple design changes that make their lives easier, safer and more comfortable without compromising on style,” he said.

All new Halcyon homes are designed to LHD’s Silver level as standard to include features such as step-free paths and entry, kitchens designed for ease of movement, bathroom and toilet walls that enable grab rails to be installed, and hobless shower recesses.

The Specialised Housing award also acknowledged Halcyon’s 8-star energy rating and its use of steel frames, passive solar design, three levels of insulation, and a patented construction method that removes the traditional sub-floor structure.

Halcyon Glades has just launched its grand finale stage of homes, which includes a new Pocket Park and recreational facility upgrades.
