Keen caravanners from Halcyon Glades have made the news as they head out on the open road for their first trip since COVID-19 put their plans on hold.

Channel 10 visited Halcyon Glades at Caboolture to interview good friends Ian and Denise Forrester, Don and Vicki Bailey, Ian and Susan Snare, and Anne and Bernie Sheahan about their road trip to Hervey Bay.

When we heard we were allowed to move around the state again, we went and booked it straight away, Anne Sheahan said.

We were talking to some friends and they said theyd come and then another couple were keen, so now we have four couples heading up for a week.

Mrs Sheahan said she and husband Bernie had been caravanning since 2002, having done countless trips around the country and up the east coast.

When they moved from Ballarat almost five years ago, they chose Halcyon Glades for its central location at the junction of the Sunshine Coast, Burnett, and Moreton Bay regions, as well as being convenient to Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

We used to spend our winters up on the Sunshine Coast, so when we decided to move up here, we stumbled upon Glades and it has been terrific, she said.

She said Halcyon Glades is the perfect base for Queensland adventures or as a starting point for exploring Australia.

We were supposed to go to Charters Towers in April and base ourselves there for six months, perhaps head out west to Emerald and then come down the coast, she said. But of course that didnt happen because of COVID.

Denise Forrester has also lived at Halcyon Glades for almost five years with her husband Ian, having come to Caboolture from Victoria via Airlie Beach.

We love it here, its been wonderful, she said.

We didnt really have a lot of friends before we moved here because its hard to make friends in suburbia, but here its just so easy and it just naturally happens.
