Couple bowled over by Halcyon Berwick
It didn’t take long for Tony and Val Wynen to bowl over their new neighbours.
The Wynen’s are avid lawn bowlers and started sharing their tips and techniques with the close-knit community at Stockland’s Halcyon Berwick soon after they moved in.
“Everyone who’s come along to try it with us so far has loved it and there’s some homeowners who show real potential,” Val says.
Remaining close to their family, friends and the Berwick Bowls Club was an important consideration when the long time Berwick residents decided to downsize.
Their interest was piqued by Stockland’s Halcyon Berwick, set within beautiful natural reserves, lakes and open green spaces in the Stockland masterplanned community of Minta, and the decision was made almost as soon as they set foot inside the display home.
“Our daughter lives at Minta only about eight minutes walk from us, so we see her a couple of times a week,” Val explains.
“There’s a good range of people here - some single younger women in their early 60s who are working still, a lot in their 70s and we’re in our 80s - and we all seem to get on well together.”
“We have Happy Hour on a Friday night where everyone brings a plate to share, and we get to know different people.”
With a professional background in real estate, Tony says he was impressed by the financial certainty and transparency that came from buying into the community including no exit fees (deferred management fees) and leasing in perpetuity.
“Stockland Halcyon doesn’t take anything off your sale price when you sell your property down the track and that was important to me," he says.
“The sale price was good; this suburb has a good reputation, and the facilities are just out of this world - everything you need is here.”
