Bobby Bakehouse has officially opened at Stockland The Gables in the Hills Shire and is the first cafe in the community’s exciting new food precinct.

Stockland celebrated the opening by hosting a community event on Sunday 26 November 2023 with close to 300 locals passing through the cafe doors.

Customers enjoyed a range of activities including face painting, a lolly guessing competition, DJs, free gelato, and had the opportunity to contribute to a time capsule which was created to commemorate the day.

It’s the second Bobby Bakehouse and coffee shop to open within the Hills area, offering a selection of freshly baked goods like award-winning pies, donuts, sandwiches, salads and wraps, as well as convenient pre-cooked meals all using fresh produce.

Stockland Project Director, Ryan Baitz said the residents of The Gables and the wider community can now experience Bobby Bakehouse right on their doorstep.

“Apart from their famous baked goods, what we love about Bobby Bakehouse is its commitment to the local community, and it’s great to have them join The Gables community,” Mr Baitz said.

As ‘Australia’s Small Business Champion Awards’ winner for ‘Australia's Best Bakery’ for three years running, Bobby Bakehouse owner Rob Pirina said he’s excited to expand to The Gables following the success of his maiden “bakery bus” in Dural.

“We’re thrilled to finally open our doors in The Gables, and to introduce our range of food and produce to local residents. We know the Hills community already love our baked goods, so we are excited to work with Stockland on this new adventure at The Gables,” Mr Pirina said.

“The opening event was a massive success and we saw so many people visit and get involved. Personally, I loved speaking to and meeting everyone and their families, it was such an exciting day.”

In line with Stockland’s commitment to embed circularity principles in our communities, the food precinct within The Gables was constructed using reclaimed, salvaged or reused materials.

Repurposing of existing assets has been championed on site, with an old school bus repurposed into the new Bobby Bakehouse Pie Bus, and a shearing shed repurposed into a glass house function room.

To date, the food precinct has repurposed over 2,000 metres of corrugated iron and close to 900 square metres of bricks.

“Our refreshed ESG strategy is where our ambition meets tangible, real-world actions that will help us pioneer more connected, resilient, future ready communities,” Mr Baitz added.

Bobby Bakehouse at Stockland The Gables is located at 1 Lakefront Cresent, The Gables, around 52 kilometres northwest of the Sydney CBD, and will be open daily from 6:00am to 4:00pm.
