Aldi coming to Stockland Jesmond

09 February 2015

Stockland Jesmond continues to deliver super savings for local customers with Stockland today announcing that discount supermarket chain ALDI will open at the centre by mid-2015.

ALDI will occupy a 1,500 square metre store on the centre’s second floor next to Help Street Medical Centre and Mystique Hair Beauty & Nails. The new store forms an integral part of Stockland’s $4.5 million upgrade to the centre, which is currently underway.

ALDI has risen to prominence in Australia by providing customers high quality items at the lowest possible prices.

In addition to ALDI opening soon, cult favourite and local Newcastle hero, Harry Schnitzel Joint, will also open its doors in March 2015, serving up its famous schnitzel wraps, fries and milkshakes. The Newcastle icon has become a popular destination for surfers, students or busy families needing to refuel with a tasty meal.

Harry James, Owner of Harrys Schnitzel Joint comments: “We can’t wait to open our doors at Stockland Jesmond’s new Eat Street and will be serving up Schnitzels in a range of famous wraps the way nature intended – flattened, crumbed and goldened!”

Harry’s Schnitzel’s will be located within the new 250-seat alfresco dining precinct ‘Eat Street’ which was unveiled at the stage one opening just before Christmas. Harry will be in fine foodie company at Stockland Jesmond, with Gloria Jeans, Crust and Subway open now and Yalla Yalla and BBQ King also preparing to open soon.

Michelle Thomas, added: “We’re creating Eat Street as a destination in its own right, where friends and family can meet for barista-made coffees, a relaxing lunch, a quick bite on the way to the shops or a family dinner. We think it’s a wonderful, new addition to the community that will offer a greater variety of food choices and, importantly, create a unique sense of place for the community.”

“We’re continuing to attract great new supermarkets, specialty stores and casual dining options for our customers at Stockland Jesmond with many more exciting surprises to be unveiled over the coming months.”

The final stage of the $4.5 million Stockland Jesmond redevelopment is on schedule for completion in March 2015.
