Aura Central welcomes its first resident as construction ramps up in major milestone

16 July 2019

Aura Central - the latest precinct at Stockland’s $5 billion Aura community on the Sunshine Coast - has welcomed its first resident as construction of homes hits full swing.

Josh Sondergeld, Project Director at Stockland, said he was delighted with the progress at Aura Central since its opening just over two months ago, with almost 100 homes now under construction in the thriving new precinct.

“Aura Central is alive with construction activity and the arrival of its first residents is a major milestone for our community,’’ Mr Sondergeld said.

“The continuing swift transformation of Aura reflects its resonance with homebuyers keen to take advantage of the lifestyle offered by a world-class masterplanned community, its convenient location and the broad range of home options available.

“More than 90 per cent of lots released have sold since sales launched at Aura Central early last year.’’

Aura Central, the future heart of Aura, will feature a future 90-hectare City Centre, the People’s Place with a South Bank-style parkland, and a range of sports and education facilities and a future employment precinct. It is expected to eventually deliver 6,000 ongoing jobs as part of an anticipated 20,000 long-term positions at Aura.

So far, around 10 kilometres of cycling and walking paths have been created at Aura Central, with eight kilometres of roads constructed, 21 kilometres of water and sewer mains installed and more than 180,000 plants are now growing.

First home buyer Amy-Lee Crampton, still celebrating after being given the keys to her brand new Integrale home, said she was excited to be Aura Central’s first resident.

“I will be so close to everything I need - I am still pinching myself. My home will be a short walk to a shopping centre, parks and schools,’’ Miss Crampton said.

“Everything has been so well thought out. Well designed to accommodate all types of people, it is sure going to be a beautiful place to live.’’

Miss Crampton, who is now the proud owner of a single-level, three-bedroom home, is marvelling at how quickly the streets surrounding her are being transformed.

“A number of my neighbours are getting close to moving in. You would hardly recognise the area compared to just a couple of months ago.

“Once the first streets were built and the bridge into Aura Central was opened, my builder and I were excited to get started.’’

Meanwhile, construction on the Aura’s first retail hub, the Stockland Baringa Shopping Centre, is nearing completion and will feature a full-line Supa IGA, specialty retailers, approximately 300 car spaces, and commercial offices.

Construction is also progressing well on the $6.5 million Baringa Tavern, part of the hub and due to open late this year.

The first businesses at the $215 million Aura Business Park are open, with the first two stages sold out.

Aura Central offers a wide range of quality home sites, with prices ranging from $212,500 for a 250 square metre lot to $305,900 for a 540 square metre lot.
