Bokarina Beach breaks ground on beachside community hub

15 October 2019

Construction is officially underway on the Village Park at Bokarina Beach, designed to embrace the best of its coastal position and offer locals a unique multi-functional space.

The future Village Park, set to be completed in February 2020, will comprise of two main areas - The Plaza and The Playspace – including an exciting large open parkland area for residents of all ages.

Drawing upon the surrounding landscape for its coastal dune character, The Plaza is set to become a bustling community heartland for a host of local events ranging from family barbeques through to the potential for weekend farmers markets.

Situated in close proximity to both the ocean and the future retail and cafe precinct, cleverly designed weather-proofing features, barbeques, shelters, and a variety of seating options and areas will ensure The Plaza serves the community all year round.

The Playspace will also provide adventurous play elements such as slides, swings and climbing walls, as well as a lounge net hang out all connected by a rope bridge. Meanwhile, inclusive play has been a key design driver to ensure all ages and abilities are provided for.

Distinctive design elements including a button activated water misting system on the main raised deck have been incorporated in the playground design to enhance the play experience, while keeping active kids cool come hot summer days.

Extending from The Plaza and Playground areas will also be the Parkland - an expansive green and shaded space suitable for a range of community activities from family picnics to social sporting matches. The Parkland is immediately adjacent to the recently opened coastal path.

David Laner, Queensland General Manager for Residential Communities at Stockland, says the new Village Park is highly anticipated by local residents. “The new Village Park is a multi-functional space that will allow the community to thrive and embrace the coastal lifestyle that its location offers.

“With construction now well underway, we’re already starting to see the development come together and anticipate residents enjoying the Village Park amenities very shortly, with key landscaping, seating areas and bathroom facilities set to be completed by December.

“From barbeques shelters to playgrounds to shaded picnic areas, Bokarina Village Park is set to become a premium coastal park for visitors and residents to enjoy both day and night.”
