Book Week celebrations popping up at Stockland Caloundra

06 August 2019

To celebrate Book Week 2019, Stockland Caloundra is thrilled to be once again partnering with Sunshine Coast Libraries and their First 5 Forever program to host a children’s pop-up library and Babyccino Book Club event.

Book Week 2019 will take place from 17 to 23 of August and Stockland Caloundra are encouraging customers to come along and enjoy the free events.

On Tuesday, 20 August in the centre court, the pop-up library will provide a dedicated space for children and parents to take a break from shopping, to read and enjoy play based learning with a range of books, costumes and educational resources.

The Coffee Club will be hosting a first of its kind, Babyccino Book Club on Thursday, 22 August. This free and fun event will include a babyccino station for children to decorate their very own beverage with many delicious and creative trimmings. Kids can also collect a free book to take home and keep thanks to The Sunshine Coast Council Libraries.

Shane Monro, Centre Manager at Stockland Caloundra said the fun-filled pop-up library will be a great resource for parents looking to entertain their little ones while out and about.

“We are very excited to again be working with Sunshine Coast Libraries to host Book Week 2019 events at Stockland Caloundra.

“The pop-up library is based on the Sunshine Coast Libraries’ First Five Forever program and will help parents entertain young children by providing them with a fun and engaging educational experience.”

The First 5 Forever program is a family literacy program that aims at creating stronger language and literacy environments for Queensland children before they start kindergarten or school. Delivered by public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres, the program’s weekly sessions are designed for parents to participate with their children and encourage learning through talking, reading, singing and playing.

Sunshine Coast Library staff will be available at the pop-up library to discuss their First 5 Forever program, offer free take-home toolkits for parents and help new members join the library.
