Movie magic coming to Stockland Green Hills with new 7-screen HOYTS cinema

17 January 2017

Stockland is pleased to announce HOYTS will open a new seven screen cinema complex at Stockland Green Hills in mid-2018, offering customers an exceptional entertainment experience. The cinema will be located within the new entertainment complex, forming part of the $412 million redevelopment of Stockland Green Hills Shopping Centre.

The new 900 seat cinema will offer customers a number of  experiences including powered recliner seating where guests can sit back and enjoy the movie in comfort and two Xtremescreens with DOLBY ATMOS surround sound, giving audiences greater immersion into the movie.

For that extra touch of luxury, customers will also have the opportunity to enjoy HOYTS LUX, an unforgettable premium cinema experience, offering delicious gourmet food and wine selections with an in-cinema dining service.

John Schroder, Stockland Group Executive and CEO of Commercial Property said: “We are extremely excited to welcome HOYTS to the new Stockland Green Hills. HOYTS are renowned for putting the customer experience at the heart of their business and the new seven screen HOYTS cinema will offer our customers  the best movie-going experience in the region, with all the latest blockbusters available day or night.”

The new cinema will be the 16th HOYTS to open in NSW and the second HOYTS in the Newcastle and Hunter region, offering cinema-lovers a premium movie experience.

HOYTS Group CEO, Damian Keogh says, “We’re thrilled to be growing HOYTS’ footprint in key regions across NSW. The new HOYTS at Stockland Green Hills will offer a sensational new cinema experience for the Newcastle and Hunter region focusing on quality, atmosphere and comfort, creating a one-stop-shop for the most entertaining trip to the movies”.

The Stockland Green Hills redevelopment, which commenced in January 2016, continues to steam ahead. In October, the centre celebrated its first key milestone  opening a new full-line Dan Murphy’s store and a 110 space customer car park.

Upon completion in mid-2018, the centre will more than double in size to around 74,000 square metres and will feature the first new format David Jones department store in the Hunter, and around 225 tenancies with a vibrant new dining and entertainment precinct that will be the biggest and best in the region.

John Schroder continues, “This is just the start, there’s so much more for our customers to look forward to. We’ve made great progress so far this year and we look forward to continuing to transform Stockland Green Hills into the premier retail, entertainment and casual dining destination in the Lower Hunter.”

The Stockland Green Hills development is estimated to generate more than 2,285 jobs – 1,350 jobs during construction, 1,250 direct, new, full time jobs in retail, customer service and hospitality and an estimated 1,200 indirect jobs for local suppliers and service providers within the regional economy.
