Opening of new road into Stockland Newport among suite of milestones

02 August 2019

Stockland Newport is celebrating a suite of major milestones including the opening of a much-anticipated new road into the thriving community on the Redcliffe Peninsula, as well as the completion of another exciting waterside park for families.

Newport residents are set to gain significant savings in travel times using the new access road, located at the western end of the community and offering a direct route to Anzac Avenue along Nathan Road.

The new park, adjacent to the Newport Lock at Jabiru Canal and featuring fabulous water views, a picnic shelter and an expansive turfed area perfect for social gatherings and ball games, complements the recently opened Spinnaker Park and playground.

David Laner, Queensland General Manager for Residential Communities at Stockland, said Newport continued to be a hive of activity with construction also completed this month on Newport Retirement Living’s $5 million clubhouse - which offers a resort-style venue for entertaining along with sweeping water views.

“It is thrilling to see our vision for Newport rapidly coming to life, with the delivery of these latest exciting milestones reflecting the continued buyer interest in the community’s enviable location, value for money and outstanding lifestyle offering,’’ Mr Laner said.

“The new access road, which complements our existing entry off the Griffith Road roundabout, will be a boon for Newport residents travelling to suburbs west of the Peninsula such as North Lakes.’’

Mr Laner said the new road would also directly connect Newport with the neighbouring Moreton Bay Regional Council Nathan Road Sport and Recreation Precinct, which is currently under construction.

“These new sports facilities will add to the wealth of opportunities encouraging Newport residents to lead an active and healthy lifestyle,’’ Mr Laner said.

“Our newest park is part of that philosophy. It has been designed to allow visitors to take in views of the Bay, the canals and our centrepiece lake, and is an ideal vantage point for families to enjoy a picnic and throw a ball around while watching the boats come and go at Newport.’’

Newport occupies a prime position in Brisbane’s thriving northern growth corridor on the Redcliffe Peninsula and is located 36 kilometres from Brisbane CBD.

The community will be home to more than 5,000 residents upon completion with almost 2,000 dwellings and a future town centre.

Newport will also feature proposed waterside dining, leafy foreshore parks, kilometres of cycling and walking paths, and easy access to schools, shops, health facilities, public transport and beaches.
