Planning is underway for a new Catholic primary school in the Stockland Evergreen masterplanned community, located in Clyde, in Melbourne’s growing south east region.

Stage 1 of the new school, to be named the Blessed Carlo Acutis Catholic Primary School, is designed to include eight general learning areas, specialist spaces and administration facilities. Construction of Stage 1 is planned to start this year, with an anticipated opening in 2027.

Stockland Development Director Sommer Liston welcomed the announcement for the growing community.

“Residents at Stockland Evergreen are surrounded by existing and proposed shops, parks and transport connections, and as the community continues to grow, infrastructure like the new Catholic primary school means residents and local families have access to education options, close by,” Ms Liston said.

Stockland Evergreen is home to around 685 residents and this is expected to grow to more than 3,000 once the community is complete.

The announcement comes after the purchase of land by the Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited (DOSCEL) for the site in 2024, with the Victorian Government’s Capital Funding Program allocating $6 million to support the development of the school.

There are two schools proposed for the Stockland Evergreen community – the Blessed Carlo Acutis Catholic Primary School, and a proposed government secondary school.
