Proposed satellite hospital site identified for Stockland Providence

Stockland today welcomed the announcement by the Queensland Government that a preferred site has been identified for a proposed new, satellite hospital in its Providence community in South Ripley.

The proposed Satellite Hospital site is located within South Ripley and is expected to function as a service-based health offering.

David Laner, General Manager of Queensland Development at Stockland, said the hospital would reduce residents’ need to travel to larger hospitals for services.

“We welcome today’s announcement that Providence has been identified as the preferred location for the Queensland State Government’s proposed satellite hospital in Ipswich.

“High quality health services will meet the growing need of the Ripley Valley, and provide significant employment opportunities both during construction and in operation.

“The proposed hospital would complement existing infrastructure already delivered within the Providence Community, including the Primary School, High School, District Playing fields, Ripley markets and the Providence Centre – located adjacent to the award winning splash and play park.”

Additional health based amenity is welcomed at Providence, adding to the community’s existing health and wellbeing offering. The Providence Community Centre has been dedicated to health services with a focus on families, including West Moreton Health– a maternity service ensuring the women of South Ripley are able to access maternal health care closer to home.

The Providence community has access to a mix of community-led health and wellness initiatives, with regular fitness classes including bootcamps, pilates, HIIT training and a community walking group.

Already home to 3,800 residents the community will eventually grow to 20,000 residents over the next 20 years. Providence is located 43 kilometres south-west of the Brisbane CBD and 12 kilometres west of Greater Springfield.
