Retirees at Stockland Shine Birtinya to receive delicious delivery just in time for Easter

09 April 2020

Baker’s Delight Birtinya has teamed up with Stockland to safely deliver nearly 300 complimentary hot cross buns to the residents of Shine Birtinya Retirement Village today – just in time for Easter!

Owner of the family-run Baker’s Delight, Rebecca Burl, said that she was inspired to organise this delivery knowing that many seniors will be missing family and friends this holiday weekend.

“We just want to bring some Easter spirit to older Australians who may not be able to see their families.

“We are very excited to work with Stockland Birtinya to achieve this. As a business, we are always trying to give back to our local community wherever possible, especially during these challenging times.

“We hope this special delivery will bring some familiarity and, of course, a delicious treat to their Easter this year.”

Centre Manager at Stockland Birtinya, Shane Monro, said: “We have an inspiring and generous group of retailers here at Stockland Birtinya, and are very proud to support Baker’s Delight in their initiative of baking and delivering nearly 300 hot cross buns to our local Shine Birtinya Retirement Village – which will hopefully bring a smile to residents’ faces this Easter.

“At Stockland, we pride ourselves on creating connected communities, and this is an excellent example of the benefits of just that – connecting local retailers with our retirement living residents.”

Village Manager at Shine Birtinya, Robyn Hauser, said that it was great that residents could still enjoy a tasty traditional Easter treat this year.

“We feel very fortunate that members of our community are thinking about us during these challenging times and going the extra mile to make our residents feel valued.

“We’re humbled that our local Baker’s Delight have organised this drop off of complimentary hot cross buns, and are grateful to have such close relationships with local businesses and the team at Stockland Birtinya shopping centre.”
