Stockland has today announced the start of construction of a new $6.5 million tavern located in the heart of Baringa in Stockland’s award-winning Aura community on the Sunshine Coast.
Upon completion in September 2019, the new family friendly Baringa Tavern will include a main bar and lounge area, large outdoor veranda, function rooms, a dedicated sports bar, a woodfire pizza kitchen and an extensive kids zone complete with TV, video games and a variety of toys for children of all ages.
Adam Renai, Development Manager at Stockland, said: “We are very excited to commence work on Baringa Tavern, our first food, drink and entertainment offering for this thriving Sunshine Coast community.

“Right next door to the future Stockland Baringa shopping centre, this new tavern will be located in a prime location within Baringa, the first suburb of Aura, servicing not only our Baringa residents but also the surrounding Bellvista and Bells Reach communities. Baringa also has a strong trade area population growth, which is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 9.3% to 30,000 by 2021.”
Located on the corner of Aura Boulevarde & Edwards Terrace the new 1,300 square metre indoor and outdoor tavern will overlook the Baringa Civic Park and Skate Plaza and will be managed by well-known hotel operators Richard Deery from the Story Bridge Hotel and Scott Armstrong from Suncoast Hotels.
On choosing to open a new tavern in Stockland’s Baringa community, Richard Deery said: “We have been looking to expand to the Sunshine Coast for a number of years now but have held off as we have been waiting for something as exciting as Aura. Now we are eagerly awaiting the opening in 2019 and can’t wait to be a part of this fantastic new community.”

The tavern will feature indoor and outdoor dining areas, a large function room and a kids areas as well as a great looking sports bar, gaming lounge and drive through liquor store.”
Aura is the largest masterplanned community ever undertaken in Australia under single ownership stretching across 24 square kilometre in Caloundra South on the Sunshine Coast. The $5 billion community recently cemented its place as Australia's top masterplanned community for land sales, according to the latest National Land Survey data by Research4.

Up to 10 families a week are moving into Baringa and construction has commenced on Aura Central, which will be the future heart of Aura featuring the City Centre, the extensive People’s Place parkland, a range of education and sporting facilities and a future employment precinct.
Over the next 30 years, Aura will be home to around 50,000 people and is planned to include over 20,000 new homes, 2 business parks, 10 sporting grounds, 25 community facilities, 20 school/education facilities, 700 hectares of conservation and park areas and 200km of cycle ways and walking paths.

Aura is the largest masterplanned community ever undertaken in Australia under single ownership. More than 20,000 new homes will be created on the 24 square kilometre site over the next 30 years and the future city will feature 20 learning hubs within a 20 kilometre radius, a vibrant town centre and retail hub, extensive South Bank style urban parkland, an elite sporting and performance precinct and two business and enterprise parks.
Aura will ultimately feature more than 200 kilometres of walking and cycle paths, meaning residents will be within a 15 minute ride to anywhere in the community.
