Stockland calls on local artists for new art laneways at its Wetherill Park retail centre

29 January 2021

Stockland is seeking expressions of interest from local, professional artists to deliver two, three-dimensional hanging art installations and one mural located within its Wetherill Park retail town centre. It will be a competitive short list process, with selected artists remunerated for their concept design and artwork.

Michael Iraninejad, Centre Manager at Stockland Wetherill Park, said that each installation could be a single or multi-piece work, using the artist’s chosen medium of sculpture, carving, painting, digital or other suitable modes and materials.

“We’re looking for original submissions that are 3D and specifically designed to celebrate community cultural diversity, while also inspiring connection and belonging. We want the artworks to curate a ‘place to celebrate’ in selected laneways throughout Stockland Wetherill Park.

“The centre is more than just a place to shop – it’s a place where people come to socialise with friends and family. We want the art installations to reflect the customers that come through our centre every day, and who better to create such meaningful art then some of our very own local Sydney artists.”

The winning artworks should be creative and sustainable, in addition to being robust, durable and low maintenance.

Expressions of interest with fee proposals need to be submitted by 5pm AEST Sunday 14 February 2021.

The winning individuals or teams will be contacted and announced on Friday 26 February 2021, with works expected to commence mid-year.
