Stockland will soon commence construction on a $4.8 million redevelopment of Gillin Park Retirement Village in Warrnambool, creating seven new homes and improved healthcare, entertainment and leisure facilities for all residents.
The first stage of redevelopment will see Stockland develop a new, modern residents’ Clubhouse with a lounge and billiards area, multi-purpose community room, kitchen and servery as well as additional, professional rooms for consultation and treatments with external healthcare providers.
Stockland will also develop seven new, high-lifestyle, low-maintenance homes specially designed to meet the modern needs and expectations of retirees.
Stockland will also undertake other upgrade works, including new landscaping at the village entrance. The overall development will start later this month and is expected to be completed within 12 months.
Daniel Milentijevic, Stockland Regional Development Manager, said: “Victoria’s South-West Coast continues to increase in popularity as a great place to retire, with more than 100 residents currently living in Stockland’s Gillin Park Retirement Village and enjoying the area’s relaxed coastal lifestyle.”
“We’re expanding and improving Gillin Park Retirement Village to keep pace with demand from a new generation of active retirees who want to live in a friendly village environment. The interest in this redevelopment has been positive, reflecting the attractiveness of the region and the demand for quality retirement living options in the area.”
As one of Australia’s top Retirement Village operators, with more than 11,000 residents living in 65 villages across Australia, Stockland strives to offer the highest possible standard in retirement living.
Residents at Gillin Park are already enjoying the landscaped gardens that provide year-round colour, as well as easy-to-access community facilities including an outdoor entertaining area with barbeque. The village also includes a library and communal garden, and is near the Hopkins River, providing easy access to walking trails, boating and fishing opportunities.
On Saturday 22 July, Gillin Park Retirement Village will host a Winter Warmers event for current residents to enjoy, and for prospective residents to sample the enviable lifestyle that is on offer. Guests will hear from author and Stockland resident Joan Wells, who has written ‘A Good Move! Your practical guide to moving into a retirement village.’ Guests will receive a free copy of the new book, and there will also be a delicious soup lunch and an opportunity for prospective new residents to tour the village.
“We encourage anyone in the area that may be considering the move to a relaxed coastal village to attend the Winter Warmer’s Event on 22 July,” said Daniel Milentijevic. “Gillin Park is a thriving community with a warm and welcoming social atmosphere. The village offers a perfectly balanced retirement with options to do as much or as little as you want, while living on the magnificent South Western Victoria coastline.”
