Stockland offers first glimpse of Birtinya Retirement Village clubhouse

23 May 2018

Stockland will showcase the future of seniors living this Saturday 26 May, with the first public glimpse of its luxurious resident clubhouse located within the $63 million Birtinya Retirement Village development.

Designed to offer retirees an active and well-connected retirement, the new 660 square metre clubhouse is set to be the beating heart of the new community with a focus on health, wellbeing and lifestyle.

The two storey facility features a bar, dining room, lounge and kitchen, as well as a billiards room, library, outdoor pool, hairdresser and a wellness centre with yoga studio and gym. Residents will also have access to a dedicated on-site health professional, preventive health and health education sessions, tailored exercise programs and a range of group fitness classes such as Zumba and tai chi.

Pauline Barton, Stockland Regional Development Manager, said: “It is great to see our vision for a connected and active retirement community in the heart of the Sunshine Coast coming to life. When designing the Birtinya Retirement Village clubhouse we wanted to provide residents with fantastic facilities that they would not only enjoy, and will contribute to a healthy retirement.”

“The Birtinya Retirement Village provides residents with the opportunity to upsize their lifestyle when they downsize their homes, with spacious, contemporary apartments designed for current aspirations as well as future needs.”

“We believe Birtinya Retirement Village’s quality of design, facilities on offer, and relaxed location in the heart of the Sunshine Coast is unlike anything else available on the coast today.”

The Birtinya Retirement Village will include a mix of 140 one, two and three bedroom apartments, offering stunning views of Lake Kawana and the Glasshouse Mountains hinterland. The first residents are expected to move in from June this year.

Located in the heart of the $5 billion world-class Oceanside Health Precinct, one of Australia’s healthiest neighbourhoods, Birtinya Retirement Village is surrounded by 11 kilometres of dedicated cycle and walking paths, and is walking distance to a range of shops and dining offerings.

The $87 million Stockland Birtinya Shopping Centre, currently under development is also only 1.5 kilometres away. The first stage will open in December and will feature a flagship Coles and Aldi supermarket, an open-air, late night dining precinct, some 32 retailers and 522 car parking spaces.

The new Sunshine Coast University Hospital and Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital are also only a short distance away and the new 151 bed Opal Aged Care facility is located adjacent to the village.

Birtinya Retirement Village already hosts two free community groups, the Birtinya Beats Heart Foundation Walking Group and a weekly outdoors Seniors Stay Active exercise class with accredited exercise physiologist Gavin Buzza - Stockland’s resident wellness facilitator.

Pauline Barton continues, “Stockland is committed to designing and developing quality retirement living communities to reflect the changing needs of Australians. Our development of the Birtinya Retirement Village shows our commitment to innovation that goes above and beyond simply meeting the needs of retirees, to surpass their expectations in every way.”

The Birtinya Retirement Village Clubhouse will be open to the public for an exclusive 'sneak peek' event, this Saturday 26 May.

Locals are invited to join for an afternoon of fun and entertainment including free cooking demonstrations, blood pressure checks, neck massages and live music. Free food and drinks will also be provided. The first two sessions are fully booked with some space remaining for 3pm. To RSVP call 1800 72 71 70.
