Stockland recently celebrated the opening of Aspen Park in the Calderwood Valley community, providing local families with a vibrant new space for recreation and community connection.

Joining Stockland at the opening was Shellharbour City Council Mayor, Councillor Chris Homer and the State Member for Kiama, Gareth Ward.

The park, located on Grayling Street in Calderwood, features an adventure play area with swings and interactive play equipment, outdoor fitness stations and shaded picnic areas with seating.

Aspen Park is the fourth park to open in Calderwood Valley. Upon completion, the community is proposed to have 13 local parks, four district parks that span more than one hectare each, two city parks each around 2.5 hectares, and a sports field.

Stockland Project Director Mike Milligan was pleased to open another park for residents at Calderwood Valley.

“At Stockland, we know that parks and open spaces are at the heart of our connected communities. Aspen Park will be a space where local families can come together, get to know one another and stay active,” Mr Milligan said.

Shellharbour City Council Mayor, Councillor Chris Homer said this is a fantastic space for people of all ages.

“Investing in quality recreation areas like this is essential – it encourages outdoor activity, fosters connections and enhances the liveability of our growing community,” Councillor Homer said.

“With school holidays just around the corner, this new play space provides families in Calderwood and across the Shellharbour area a welcoming place where children can explore and play.”

State Member for Kiama, Gareth Ward MP, said he was delighted that Stockland is making these critical investments that support the local Calderwood Valley community.

“I am very pleased that the new play equipment, amenities and natural open green spaces have been well incorporated into the design features of the new facilities at Aspen Park, which is great for the environment and welcome news for local families,” Mr Ward said.

Alongside the opening of Aspen Park, families also enjoyed a community celebration at the nearby District Park on Escarpment Drive and Bartlett Crescent with live music, face painting, craft stations, lawn games, and a sporting activation hosted by Ready Steady Go Kids.
