Stockland paves the way with $10 million Grand Boulevard at Truganina

19 May 2022

Stockland, one of Australia’s largest diversified property groups, was joined by the City of Melton today to mark the start of construction of a new $10 million single carriage way at Truganina that will run 1.7 kilometres east to west linking Stockland’s Mt. Atkinson and Grandview Communities.

Grand Boulevard will improve daily commuting and safety for those travelling between the Stockland communities, as well as the Edmund Rice Community Centre, Rockbank, the Western Freeway and Hopkins Road.

The delivery of the Grand Boulevard and Mt. Atkinson Road intersection near the Edmund Rice Community Centre will also improve safety, ensuring community groups can access the surrounding area. The road project is expected to be finalised in mid-2023.

Stockland Project Director, Ed Krushka said: “For 70 years Stockland has created some of Australia’s most liveable communities across the country and has been committed to improving accessibility and safety for communities.

“With the western growth corridor rapidly expanding and more than 267,000 people moving to the area since 2010  [1] , this vital piece of infrastructure will meet the needs of the growing Mt. Atkinson community. The new road will help to improve travel times; access to work, recreation and services; and safety that will benefit our current and prospective residents, as well as the wider community,” continued Mr Krushka.

Funded as works-in-kind under the Mt. Atkinson and Tarneit Plains Infrastructure Contributions Plan, the Grand Boulevard works will also include two signalised intersections, one at Grand Boulevard and Mt. Atkinson Road and the other at Grand Boulevard and Altezze Drive.

Cr Goran Kesic, Mayor of the City of Melton, said: “Once complete, this road will be a welcome addition for the area. Road improvements are high on Melton City Council’s agenda and we welcome the commitment from Stockland to bring the Truganina community an improved roadway. The Grand Boulevard carriageway is set to improve safety and travel for residents and visitors alike and we look forward to seeing construction progress.”

Stockland Mt. Atkinson is located 25kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD and will see 4,400 families move into the community upon completion.
