Stockland Wendouree to welcome 22 new retailers ahead of grand opening

08 June 2018

Stockland is thrilled to announce an exciting list of new retailers due to open their doors at Stockland Wendouree later this month.

The sub-regional shopping centre will officially celebrate its grand opening on the 28th June following a $37 million redevelopment which has reinvigorated the premier shopping destination for the Ballarat region.

As part of the expansion Stockland Wendouree is pleased to welcome a number of retailer firsts to the Ballarat region with fashion brands Bonds and Forever New as well as beauty specialists Laser Clinics Australia and Shaver Shop.

Stockland Wendouree also looks forward to introducing youth fashion retailers Sportsgirl and Skechers ahead of the grand opening.

Phill Newton, Stockland Development Manager, said: “We are very excited to be expanding our retail offering at Stockland Wendouree and to be bringing a number of retail firsts to the region.

“Over the past few months we have secured a number of new and exciting retailers with a focus on youth fashion, beauty, casual dining and everyday convenience -  reaffirming Stockland Wendouree’s position as the largest enclosed shopping destination in the area.”

Stevie Wright, Centre Manager at Stockland Wendouree, says, “We’ve listened to the wants and needs of the community and are confident that these new fashion and service retailers, some which will be a first for the Ballarat region, will greatly improve our local offering.

“The new Stockland Wendouree is not just about shopping, it’s about delivering an unparalleled lifestyle and retail experience for the community, where people can meet, eat, socialise, be entertained and just relax.”

Upon completion the centre will feature over 100 retailers, 6,700 square metres of new retail floor space and an additional 50 new car parking spaces taking the total to over 1,200.

At the heart of upgrade will be a new full-line 3,800 square metre Woolworths, which will offer the latest fresh food innovations, including an artisan delicatessen and on site bakery.

Stockland will also open two inclusive playgrounds designed in conjunction with the Touched by Olivia Foundation, to ensure children of all abilities can play together along with a dedicated Quiet Room designed to create a safe place for parents, carers and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), providing a calm, low sensory environment, which can be used as a retreat away from the busy shopping centre.

The Stockland Wendouree redevelopment has generated approximately 500 jobs during construction and is expected to create 250 local retail jobs in perpetuity.

Stockland Wendouree is currently Ballarat’s largest fully enclosed sub-regional shopping centre located 4 kilometres west of the Ballarat CBD and is anchored by Kmart, Coles and Woolworths.
