State-by-state breakdown of government grants and rebates

The First Home Buyer Grant (FHOG) may be available to people who are building or buying their first home. Eligibility requirements and amounts available (from $10,000 to $20,000) vary from state to state. You can find more information here:

NSW grants and rebates

You may also be eligible for a reduction of transfer duty charges through the First Home Buyer Assistance Scheme.

VIC grants and rebates

  • VIC First Home Buyer Grant – $10,000 (learn more here)

You may also be able to apply for a first home buyer duty exemption, concession or reduction.

QLD grants and rebates

  • QLD First Home Buyer Grant – up to $20,000 (learn more here)

You may also qualify for the Regional home building boost grant.

WA grants and rebates

You may also be able to apply for a first home owner rate of duty.
