11 January 2022

If coffee is your passion, then you know how important the local coffee scene is to your daily routine. Whether it is an unassuming “hole in the wall” café or one with a glorious vista, Forest Reach will be surrounded by an abundance of options, all serving up delicious coffee and scrumptious treats to help you start your workday or provide fuel for your family adventures.

If you are looking for a brew with a view, the Illawarra Valley region does not disappoint. Find your favourite and take a seat to enjoy the view or grab a takeaway and head out to explore this spectacular region.

Attaboy Dapto* and Illawarra Valley Walking Trails
On your way to tackle some of the nearby walking tracks, grab your caffeine hit at Alexander’s Café, Dapto’s favourite coffee and breakfast hangout. The cafe has recently merged with popular local bar and restaurant Attaboy Dapto and the union of these two local culinary superstars has produced a destination for all-day dining, fabulous barista-made espresso, late night desserts and captivating cocktails.

Yachties Donut House* and Wollongong Breakwater Lighthouse
Grab a picnic table and sip your favourite blend while taking in the spectacular views over the harbour at this waterfront espresso bar or grab and go to wander over to the now unused lighthouse. If you’re indulging in one of Yachtie’s famous donuts, you might feel the need to walk a little further and explore the rest of the harbour and Flagstaff Point Lighthouse.

Espresso Warriors Wollongong* and Wollongong Botanic Gardens, Lake Illawarra, Port Kembla Beach
Using speciality coffee roasters, St. Ali Melbourne, Espresso Warriors boast three locations all within 20 minutes of Forest Reach and will be your go-to for coffee on the run. Visit the Dapto location on your way to the beautiful Wollongong Botanic Garden or stop in at the Shellharbour location before your SUP lesson on Lake Illawarra. Spending the day at Port Kembla Beach? Grab a coffee and fresh pastries from the Warrawong Espresso Warriors and enjoy the perfect beach picnic.

Connies Cliff Road Café* and North Wollongong Beach
Start your day with an early morning dip at North Wollongong Beach before enjoying brunch and a perfectly poured espresso overlooking the sparkling water at Connies Café. Family owned and operated since 2009, the baristas at Connies Café are coffee connoisseurs and passionate about consistently good coffee.

Blue Jay Café* and Illawarra escarpment
Slow the pace, breathe in aromas of freshly ground coffee and enjoy the lush mountain views of the Illawarra escarpment from Blue Jay Café. Loved by locals, this Albion Park café uses produce from surrounding farmlands and makes everything in-house.
