Symbio Wildlife Park* – (36-minute drive North of Forest Reach)
This award-winning, family-owned wildlife park is located on the top of the Illawarra escarpment and just minutes away from some of the region’s most popular parks and beaches. Famous for getting visitors closer than ever to amazing Australian, exotic and farm animals, this wildlife park allows you to book behind the scenes experiences to feed and interact with red pandas, meerkats, monkeys, and ring-tailed lemurs. For the ultimate animal enthusiast, book a “Keeper for a Day” experience or join in the park’s “Junior Keeper Camp” program over the school holidays!
Jamberoo Action Park* – (25-minute drive South of Forest Reach)
Another family-owned and operated attraction is Jamberoo Action Park. Offering world class rides and attractions, you’ll get your adrenaline pumping on rides like The Perfect Storm, Funnel Web or The Taipan. If you’re looking for something a little more relaxed, try Billabong Beach or the Outback Bay wave pool. Prefer dry land? Hop aboard the Bobsled or Chair Lift or try your hand at a round of Landscape Golf.
Science Space Wollongong* – (21-minute drive North-East of Forest Reach)
For those with enquiring minds, Science Space Wollongong is the place to go for your wild weekend adventure. As the only dedicated immersive science experience in NSW, Science Space is home to Australia’s most digitally advanced Planetarium, live science shows and over 100 hands-on exhibits. Science Space also host birthday parties!
For a rain-soaked weekend where the only option is to stay inside your new home at Forest Reach, discover the best of Wollongong with the kids over a family game of Monopoly. Released in November 2021, the Monopoly Wollongong Edition is filled with public places, streets and businesses. Roll the dice and claim stakes on Corrimal Beach, Sea Cliff Bridge or Sublime Lookout. Then, when the weather clears, jump in the car to explore these iconic Wollongong locations.
HARS Aviation Museum* – (14-minute drive South of Forest Reach)
Just a short drive south of Forest Reach is the HARS Aviation Museum - a must see for aviation enthusiasts. Open daily (except Christmas Day) admission includes access to all aircraft, engine and restoration and displays as well as a guided tour through the operational hangers.
Dapto Showground Markets* – (15-minute bike ride from Forest Reach)
Ditch the car and make your way by bike to the Dapto Showground Market. These markets are held every Sunday from 7am and have been operating for 22 years. They are one of the largest markets on the South Coast and feature a wide variety of new and second-hand goods, fresh produce, fashion, jewellery, plants, craft, furniture and more.
