07 December 2022

It’s easy to spread your wings at Lakeside. Whether you’re in the mood for adventure or more of a meandering day of discovery, great family days out are right on your doorstep.

Based in the inspiring surrounds of Lakeside, Gledswood Hills, just 15 kilometres from the bustling heart of Campbelltown centre, you’re at the gateway to all things mild to wild.

Here’s our top picks for family-friendly days out in Campbelltown that will make you wonder why you didn’t make the move years ago.

Wild: Ballooning adventures over the valley

This morning would start like no other. The cool fresh fog of the dawn awakens the spirit. Soon you’ll be floating on cloud nine.

*Hot air balloon riders leave most fine mornings from the Rydges Hotel in Campbelltown city. Balloon Aloft* were the very first in Australia to host tourist joy flights, and 40 years on they remain as popular as ever with locals and visitors alike.

Mild: Australian Botanic Garden in Mount Annan

Australia’s largest botanic garden* is a picnicker’s paradise. Soak in the thousands of different species of plants and wildlife over the 416 hectares and 20 kilometres of walking and cycling trails.

There are surprises around every corner. No matter their age, all kids love the flower maze.

A Sunday snag and salad lunch is enjoyed with the BBQ facilities on hand. Afterwards, a stroll past some curious and creative sculptures dotted throughout the garden will top off a lovely afternoon.

Wild: Ultimate Go Karting, Smeaton Grange

Just 10 minutes from Lakeside are the thrills of Ultimate Go Karting*. It really is ultimate. Some say the corners are the tightest of any karting track you’ll find. Somehow there seems to be no limit to the throttle.

It’s all indoors, so there’s no need to worry about the weather. That’s good because you won’t want anything to stop you carving out this track.

Mild: A round of golf anyone

If you love golf, you don’t have to go too far at Lakeside. One of Campbelltown’s most beautiful golfing destinations backs onto Lakeside. The Lakeside Golf Club Camden* was the winner of the Golf NSW 2019 Metropolitan Golf Club of the Year, and the course certainly lives up to the title. There’s 18 holes of rolling greens by the glistening lake, which was the inspiration for our Lakeside name.

The adjoining Country Club* is a modern restaurant and function space, offering all the family fun and fab food you’d expect from a luxury venue.

Breathe in the fresh air as you tee off for an afternoon stroll, before making your way to the club house for a beverage and early dinner. You could just about walk home.
