Residents to benefit with new emergency services precinct announced
Residents in Caloundra South have reason to celebrate with a significant milestone in the region's infrastructure development achieved, with ground breaking on the site of Aura’s brand new emergency services precinct.
Government representatives including Minister for Health, Mental Health and Ambulance Services and Minister for Women, Shannon Fentiman, Minister for Police and Corrective Services and Minister for Fire and Emergency Services, Mark Ryan and local Member for Caloundra Jason Hunt MP, were on site for the momentous occasion on Thursday 21 September.
Set to be located in the new Aura town centre, this emergency services precinct will house a $7.9 million state-of-the-art ambulance station, a $13.5 million purpose-built police station and $8.5 million modern fire and rescue service station upon completion.
This exciting announcement means frontline emergency services will be enhanced to support the growing population in the Caloundra South region and improve health outcomes, with all three services located within a single precinct, improving emergency response times.
Stockland Aura Project Director Josh Sondergeld said Stockland was delighted to see work underway to make this important part of infrastructure become a reality for Aura residents.
“The development of this new emergency services precinct highlights the government’s commitment to supporting the region and will provide valuable infrastructure to meet the growing needs of our thriving community here in Aura and the surrounding area,” Mr Sondergeld said.
“Not only will this brand new precinct expand the emergency care capacity for local residents, it will also create additional frontline emergency service jobs, providing opportunities and support for our local workforce.”

Member for Caloundra, Jason Hunt MP welcomed the announcement of the first ever emergency services precinct in Queensland noting that it was a special day for the Sunshine Coast.
“To have these three emergency services in one location will see residents receive the best response possible during an emergency,” said Mr Hunt.
“I am proud to be part of a government that is committed to delivering the infrastructure needed for our growing region.”
Construction of all three stations as part of the new emergency services precinct is scheduled to commence later this year, with the tender awarded to Badge Constructions. Further updates will be provided as construction progresses.
