Elevate your basketball skills right here in Aura

Basketball enthusiasts have a reason to rejoice with the Pride Performance facility in Aura, a premier high-performance skills development facility exclusively dedicated to basketball.

Now open in Baringa in the Aura Business Park, Pride Performance offers a diverse array of coaching programs tailored to cater to individual needs as well as groups. Aimed at both beginners looking to grasp the fundamentals and seasoned players aiming to refine advanced techniques, Pride’s expert coaches can provide guidance at every step of the basketball journey. The facility also offers special school holiday coaching programs to keep the kids entertained, learn new skills and meet new friends.

Josh Walters from Pride Performance encourages the community to check out their new premises at the Aura Business Park.

Data from the Australian Sports Commission shows more than 1.1 million Australians over 15-years-old played basketball last year – a 64 per cent increase on 2016. The number of children under 15-years-old who play the sport has also increased, from 291,200 in 2016 to almost half a million in 2022.*

The business commenced on the Sunshine Coast with the opening of a centre in Forest Glen, later expanding to a facility in Aura in 2024 to service the growing community.

Pride Performance owner, Josh Walters said the business came about after he finished playing professional basketball four years ago.

“I had the opportunity to open up a couple of facilities and provide individual coaching and group sessions to the Sunshine Coast community,” said Josh.

“I wanted our facilities to offer more personal services and create relationships with younger kids.

“We want to do more than just coach them on the basketball court. We want to be mentors and friends, and I feel that we’ve nailed that.

“Most of my teachers and mentors were from one-on-one sessions or small group sessions when I was younger, so passing knowledge on to the youth is important to me.

“We cater mostly to 10 – 20 year olds, but honestly all ages are welcome. I have a 45-year-old woman that trains with me two or three times per week because she loves it so much.

“We’ve had a lot of positive feedback so far, but we’d like to see more. I think once people know we are here in Aura, they’ll be more inclined to come and check us out and find out what we’re all about.”

Charlotte Buckley, Stockland Community Development Manager said that she was delighted with the variety of different businesses choosing to call the Aura Business Park home.

“Our vision for the Aura Business Park is to be a place where businesses can come together and thrive and we are delighted to have Pride Performance join other successful businesses in the Aura Business Park,” said Ms Buckley.

“Pride Performance is your gateway to basketball excellence in Queensland and we encourage the community to come and check out their facility here in Aura.

“Stockland is committed to creating liveable communities that allow our residents to live a healthy and active lifestyle and having facilities like Pride Performance on our doorstep is a great way to achieve this.”

With the business operating from its Baringa location, Josh also chose to build a house in Aura in the suburb of Banya.

“I think there’s lots of potential here. Aura is like a mini city, so for me it was a no-brainer and the facilities are top-notch, said Josh.

“I get to ride my scooter to work rather than spending money on fuel, and take in the beautiful parks and nature on my journey.”
