The summer holidays are almost over signalling a return to school for our Aura kids. A new year brings new residents to the area, eager to embrace life in their new abode. The vibrant Aura community provides a haven for families seeking a coastal lifestyle with easy access to quality educational facilities.

In developing Aura, Stockland recognised the pivotal role education plays in fostering a thriving community. With a forward-thinking vision, the masterplanned development aims to create a dynamic centre of learning that not only meets the immediate needs of residents, but also positions itself as a regional education destination in the years to come.

Families have access to a diverse range of educational facilities within Aura

Stockland’s vision is to create an education hub in Aura, with 20 proposed education facilities on the masterplan within a 20km radius. This includes multiple private and public schools, early learning centres and a proposed university and TAFE, offering access to top-notch educational facilities, ensuring families can provide their children with a quality education without venturing too far from home.

By prioritising the establishment of an education-centric environment, Stockland is not just building structures in Aura; it is laying the foundation for knowledge-sharing, innovation and a brighter future for the area.

Stockland Community Development Manager, Charlotte Buckley said that Aura currently provides a diverse range of educational opportunities from early learning through to high school.

“We are seeing that having access to high-quality educational facilities is becoming increasingly important to families when looking to purchase a new home or relocate to Aura,” said Ms Buckley.

“The recent announcement of the opening of Aura’s newest school in 2025, Notre Dame College, solidifies Stockland's commitment to creating a city of excellence, with education at its core.

“With new families moving to Aura every week, this new school will be a welcome addition to the growing number of educational facilities already available.

“Our vision is for Aura to be a city where people can learn, live, work and play.”

Currently, within Aura there are two primary schools, including Baringa State Primary School and Nirimba State Primary School, with a key focus on science, technology, engineering and maths.

The $127 million state-of-the-art Baringa State Secondary College, opened in 2021 and will be joined by the Notre Dame College, forecast to open in 2025.* Owned and developed by Brisbane Catholic Education, this new P-12 Catholic School will be the first private school in Aura. This co-educational school will initially open for Prep to Year 3, and Year 7 students and is masterplanned for 1,836 students on completion.

Aura’s first childcare centre in Baringa, Goodstart Early Learning Centre, will soon be joined by a Goodstart Early Learning Centre based in northern Nirimba, with construction of the new centre scheduled to begin in early 2024, to service the growing needs of young Aura families.

With the proposed university and TAFE also identified on the masterplan, Aura really is a city focused on providing access to the best formal learning opportunities for its residents and creating a community that brings people and families together.
