Aura welcomed an exciting addition to its already impressive line-up of parks and playgrounds, with the official opening of its 22nd park, Shark Park in Banya, with a free community event on Sunday 10 December.

The fin-tastic Shark Park is designed as a tribute to local fauna, taking residents on a journey from the ocean to the hinterland. Drawing inspiration from the grey nurse shark, Shark Park encapsulates the essence of this iconic and endangered marine species in an imaginative and playful experience that mirrors the shark's adventurous spirit.

The park features a six-metre tall shark cage playground dome, a "Shark Alley" rope bridge crossing and for those with a penchant for exploration, "Sandy Cove" awaits – where children can dig for starfish and shell fossils. Swings, fitness equipment, and picnic shelters further enhance the park's offerings, ensuring there's something for every little adventurer.

Stockland Aura Senior Development Manager, Genaea Keith said residents and local families were excited to have another park in the community.

“We know through our recent Stockland liveability survey that the proximity and quality of local parks and green open space are important to our residents in Aura,” Ms Keith said.

“Liveable spaces, like parks and playgrounds, contribute to the social fabric of a community, providing areas where residents can engage in recreational activities, socialise, and build a sense of belonging, connection and wellbeing.

“At Aura, there is a park within 400 metres of every home. The Aura park trail features a network of parks connected by the cycling veloway and walking paths, making them accessible for all,” Ms Keith added.

Shark Park’s Playground Designer, Tobias Volbert from Urban Play, said the new playspace was thoughtfully designed to cater to people of all ages and abilities.

“The unique narrative woven into the design encourages the imagination to take centre stage. It’s not just a play area: it’s a storytelling space full of adventure,” Mr Volbert said.

“From the feeding frenzy to the shark-infested waters to the immersive shark cage climbing dome, this play space will provide a thrilling play experience for children of all ages.”
